HC Deb 25 November 1936 vol 318 cc419-20
50. Mr. DAY

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will consider making representations to the various railway companies of Great Britain asking them to have one or more compartments set aside and labelled "For ladies only" on all main line trains?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

This, I am informed, is the practice.

Mr. DAY

Is it riot a fact that there are many non-corridor trains on which no such reservation is made?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

I am informed that there are carriages marked "Ladies only," but that the ladies prefer not to use them.
