HC Deb 25 November 1936 vol 318 cc401-2
16. Mr. MANDER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will consider the advisability, with a view to emphasising the practical nature of the Government's support of collective security, of initiating at once, with States loyal to the League of Nations, consultations, with a view to arrangements for joint action in the military sphere as regards France, Belgium, Iraq and Egypt and in the economic sphere with the others?

Mr. EDEN

I do not think that the hon. Member's proposal would serve any useful purpose.

Mr. MANDER

Are we to take it that there will be no arrangement for concerted action, even in economic affairs, where we might be called upon to act with other States?
