Resolution of the House [11th November] relative to the appointment of a Joint Committee on Gas Prices, which was ordered to be communicated to the Lords, and the Lords Message [18th November] signifying their concurrence in the said Resolution, read:

Ordered, That a Select Committee of Seven Members be appointed to join with a Committee to be appointed by the Lords to inquire into the powers of regulating charges possessed by the South Metropolitan Gas Company, and other gas companies, authorised to operate under a basic price and basic dividend system, to consider whether adequate protection is afforded to the interests of the different classes of gas consumers under such powers, and to report what action, if any, is necessary. Ordered, That leave be given to the Committee to hear parties interested by themselves, their counsel, or agents, so far as the Committee think fit. Ordered, That the Committee have power to send for persons, papers, and records. Ordered, That Three be the quorum.—[Sir G. Penny.] Message to the Lords to acquaint them therewith and to request them to appoint an equal number of Lords to be joined with the Committee appointed by this House.
