§ 25. Mr. DAYasked the Postmaster General to what extent the staff of the Post Office investigation branch has been increased during the last 12 months; and whether any special provision has been made to protect mails travelling by train?
§ Major TRYONThe staff of the Post Office Investigation Branch has increased by 9 per cent. since last November. With regard to the second part of the question, I am satisfied that the railway companies have adopted all reasonable and practicable measures to ensure the safety of the mails whilst in their care.
§ Mr. LENNOX-BOYDMay I ask whether any part of the increase is due to the need for extra staff to prepare answers to the hon. Member?
