HC Deb 16 November 1936 vol 317 c1317
25. Mr. DAY

asked the Postmaster General to what extent the staff of the Post Office investigation branch has been increased during the last 12 months; and whether any special provision has been made to protect mails travelling by train?

Major TRYON

The staff of the Post Office Investigation Branch has increased by 9 per cent. since last November. With regard to the second part of the question, I am satisfied that the railway companies have adopted all reasonable and practicable measures to ensure the safety of the mails whilst in their care.

Mr. LENNOX-BOYD

May I ask whether any part of the increase is due to the need for extra staff to prepare answers to the hon. Member?
