HC Deb 16 November 1936 vol 317 c1329
55. Mr. JOEL

asked the President of the Board of Education what has been the nature of the reception of his circular with regard to the provision of free shoes and clothing for children taking part in physical exercises at elementary schools; and what period he anticipates will elapse before such clothing is generally available to elementary school children?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Shakespeare)

The circular has been favourably received in the Press. The rate at which local education authorities will exercise the new powers conferred on them is a matter on which I am not at present in a position to make any reliable forecast.

Mr. G. GRIFFITHS

Would it be possible for the Parliamentary Secretary to instruct his Department to post this up at the Employment Exchanges instead of recruiting posters?
