HC Deb 10 November 1936 vol 317 cc674-5
21. Sir A. KNOX

asked the Secretary of State for War whether film camera men were permitted to travel with British troops sent lately to Palestine; and, if so, what was their nationality?

The SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Mr. Duff Cooper)

Twelve employés of a film company engaged in making, with War Office co-operation, a film illustrating certain aspects of Army life were allowed to travel in September last as far as Egypt on a ship carrying British troops, with a view to photographing scenes on board. I understand that one of their number was of Austrian nationality; the remainder were British.

Mr. BELLENGER

Does the War Office receive any payment for allowing these film people to travel with our Army?

Mr. COOPER

Yes; they paid their fares.
