HC Deb 09 November 1936 vol 317 cc488-9
25. Mr. CHORLTON

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will make a statement as to the present position in Inner Mongolia and the extent of the Japanese military occupation of that area?

Viscount CRANBORNE

Inner Mongolia remains under the authority of the Chinese Government. The presence of Japanese as well as Chinese troops at certain points in the territory has been reported, but it is difficult to obtain detailed information regarding the military situation there.

Mr. CHORLTON

What has become of Japan's pledge under the Nine-Power Treaty?

Viscount CRANBORNE

I would prefer that any questions regarding the Treaty should be put on the Paper.
