HC Deb 05 November 1936 vol 317 c221
17. Mr. DAY

asked the Home Secretary the number of fatal and non-fatal street accidents that have taken place in the Metropolitan police area at the several places where roundabouts or the one-way traffic system have been introduced for the 12 months ended to the last convenient date; and the corresponding figures of the 12 months prior to the introduction of these traffic systems?

Mr. LLOYD

Between 200 and 300 roundabouts and one-way traffic systems are now in operation in the Metropolitan police district and they have been introduced at various dates during the course of the last 12 years. To collate statistics comparing the accidents at particular places before and after the introduction of roundabouts or one-way working would involve an expenditure of time and money which would not be justified by the results.
