HC Deb 05 November 1936 vol 317 cc252-3
79. Mr. CREECH JONES

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies when the Government will take the necessary steps to ratify the Convention arrived at by the International Labour Office this year on the subject of the recruitment of native labour; and to what extent the Convention will became applicable in British Colonies and Protectorates?

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

The necessary steps to ratify the Convention will be taken by His Majesty's Government so soon as it has been decided whether any modifications are necessary in respect of its application to any particular Colonial dependency. I am at the present time in communication with Colonial Governments on the subject.
