Mr. DENVILLEasked the Postmaster-General whether his attention has been drawn to the case of a Mrs. Harger, a visitor from America to this country, who received an insured parcel from America which had been examined by 1622 the customs officials and the contents of which had been rendered useless; whether, in the circumstances, compensation will be paid to her for the said damage; and whether he is aware that this matter has been before his office for six months?
§ The POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Major Tryon)Instructions have been given to pay compensation in this case. I am sorry for the delay but there was no evidence that the damage occurred during Customs examination here and the United States Post Office had to he consulted.
