HC Deb 21 May 1936 vol 312 c1346
19. Mr. SHINWELL

asked the Minister of Labour the reason why Mr. George Blackett, residing at Haswell Colliery, county Durham, has suffered a reduction of 1s. per week in his unemployment allowance; whether it is due to the recent increase of 3d. a day in the wages of his son who is aged 16; and whether he is aware that this boy is the only person in the family who is employed and earns on the average 12s. 9d. per week, and that there are six children in the family under the age of 14?

Mr. E. BROWN

I am informed by the Unemployment Assistance Board that they are making inquiries. I will communicate with the hon. Member as soon as the result is known.

Mr, SHINWELL

Will the right hon. Gentleman expedite the inquiry?

Mr. BROWN

I will do my best.
