HC Deb 20 May 1936 vol 312 cc1178-9
23. Mr. DAY

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty the present personnel in the employ of the Admiralty involved in the use of the floating dock erected at Singapore in 1928; whether the anti-malarial measures taken at Singapore are now completed; and can be state the cost to date?

The CIVIL LORD of the ADMIRALTY (Mr. Kenneth Lindsay)

The salaried and wages staff employed in connection with the maintenance of the floating dock numbers approximately 50. The permanent anti-malarial measures are practically complete, but maintenance services such as oil spraying and clearing of surface drains will, of course, continue to be necessary. The cost to the end of March, 1936, was £27,000.

Mr. DAY

Have there been any transfers recently of the personnel from Singapore to other places?

Mr. LINDSAY

No, Sir, none whatever.

Mr. DAY

Is it possible to transfer this floating dock elsewhere?

Mr. LINDSAY

If the hon. Gentleman will frame a question, I will endeavour to give him an answer.
