HC Deb 20 May 1936 vol 312 c1170
2. Mr. CHORLTON

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether there is any special trade commissioner accredited to the treaty negotiations proceeding with Egypt?

Mr. EDEN

No trade commissioner is attached either to the British or to the Egyptian Delegations at present engaged in the conversations regarding an, Anglo-Egyptian treaty, which are, as I have already explained, of a preliminary character.

Mr. CHORLTON

Will there be a commissioner there later on?

Mr. EDEN

No, these conversations are dealing with political matters only. It would confuse our work if we brought commercial matters in as well.
