HC Deb 20 May 1936 vol 312 c1176
13 and 15. Mr. A. HENDERSON

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (1) whether, in view of the recent activities of the military attaché at the Italian Embassy in London, he will request the Italian Ambassador to take steps to ensure that the diplomatic immunity of the Embassy personnel will not in future be used for such purposes;

(2) whether the Government are considering making representations to the Italian Government as to the undesirability of the military attaché remaining at his post in London, in view of his relations with Colonel Lopez?

Mr. EDEN

I am confident that the very full statement which I made to the House on 18th May on this subject will effectively protect His Majesty's Government and British industry against any further allegations concerning the supply of illegal ammunition to the Abyssinian forces. In the circumstances I do not contemplate any further action on the lines suggested by the hon. Member.
