§ 32. Captain McEWENasked the Secretary of State for Scotland at what stage the proceedings of the committee set up last December to inquire into the employment and remuneration of farm workers in Scotland have now arrived and how soon a report may be expected?
§ Lieut.-Colonel COLVILLEI understand that the committee have completed the hearing evidence, except some evidence of a specialised character, and are now engaged on the preparation of their report. It is not yet possible to indicate precisely when the report will be available, but I am assured that here will be no avoidable delay.
§ Captain McEWENIs my hon. and gallant Friend in a position to give the approximate date of the report?
§ Lieut.-Colonel COLVILLEI hope that the committee may find it possible to submit the report during next month.
Mr. DAVIDSONCan the hon. and gallant Gentleman inform us whether the trade unions affected by the farm workers were considered in regard to this report?
§ Lieut.-Colonel COLVILLEI understand that a very wide number of people were consulted, but I cannot, without notice, say exactly who were brought before the committee.
