I beg to move, That, in accordance with the Church of England Assembly (Powers) Act, 1919, this House do direct that the Ecclesiastical Commissioners (Powers) Measure, 1936, be presented to His Majesty for Royal Assent. This Measure relates to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners. It deals with their powers and also with their responsibilities, and the chief feature of the Measure is that it enables the Commissioners to advance sums out of their common fund for the building and provision of churches and church halls. It also relates to other powers with regard to the transference of investments from Bishoprics into their own funds and the payment in lieu of fixed annuities to the Bishoprics.

I beg to move, That, in accordance with the Church of England Assembly (Powers) Act, 1919, this House do direct that the Clergy Pensions (Widows and Dependants) Measure, 1936, be presented to His Majesty for Royal Assent. This Measure marks the completion of a series of attempts which have been made to introduce pensions for the widows and dependants of the clergy. It brings into effect these pensions, which are to start as from a certain appointed day.

I beg to move, That, in accordance with the Church of England Assembly (Powers) Act, 1919, this House do direct that the Clergy Pensions (Amendment) Measure, 1936, be presented to His Majesty for Royal Assent. This Measure is a machinery Measure designed to remove difficulties and to set at rest uncertainties which have arisen in the administration of the Clergy Pensions Measures of 1926 and 1923.
