asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer who will be the initial directors of the Special Areas Reconstruction Association?

My right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer is not yet in a position to give the names of the board as a whole, but he is glad to be able to inform the House that the right hon. Lord Portal has consented to be Chairman.

Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

Can my right hon. and gallant Friend give us an assurance that, when the names are announced, they will include at least one Scotsman, to ensure the general efficiency of the board?

Mr. THURTLE

Can the Patronage Secretary say whether these directors will be paid directors' fees?
