HC Deb 13 May 1936 vol 312 c364
13. Mr. A. HENDERSON

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the terms of the secret treaty or agreement of January, 1935, made between the Italian and French Governments were communicated to the Foreign Office; and, if so, whether he will inform the House of the contents of such agreement; and whether the said treaty or agreement has been registered with the Secretariat of the League of Nations, as required by Article 18 of the Covenant?

The PRIME MINISTER

As regards the first and second parts of the question, I cannot add anything to the reply which my right hon. Friend gave on 24th February to the hon. Member for North Aberdeen (Mr. Garro-Jones). The answer to the third part of the question is, so far as I am aware, in the negative.

Mr. HENDERSON

Does not the right hon. Gentleman take the view that any agreements made between member-States of the League should be registered with the Secretariat?

The PRIME MINISTER

I do not think the hon. Member can ask me to criticise the conduct of other nations.
