HC Deb 07 May 1936 vol 311 cc1861-2
30. Mr. MANDER

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider the advisability of appointing a committee to see how far it may be practicable to impose a special tax on the profits arising out of the Government's re-armament programme?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

No, Sir. I do not consider that the appointment of such a committee is called for.

Mr. MANDER

If such a tax is practicable, does not the right hon. Gentleman think it is desirable?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I hope it will not be found to be necessary.

Sir W. BRASS

Would it not mean an examination of all sub-contracts as well as main contracts?
