HC Deb 05 May 1936 vol 311 c1521
43. Mr. LIDDALL

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware of the great possibilities of the pigs marketing scheme in Lincolnshire providing that a bacon factory is erected in that county; and will he recommend the Bacon Development Board to grant a licence for the erection of such a factory in what is the second largest county in England?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of AGRICULTURE (Mr. Ramsbotham)

In a reply given yesterday to a question by my hon. Friend, my right hon. Friend indicated the position with regard to the establishment of a bacon factory in Lincolnshire. There is nothing I can usefully add to that answer.

Mr. LIDDALL

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that the Bacon Development Board will come to a decision to-morrow and that the success of the Pigs Marketing Scheme of the Government largely depends upon whether a bacon factory is erected in the second largest county in England?

Mr. RAMSBOTHAM

If the decision of the Bacon Development Board tomorrow is not satisfactory to the applicants, they will have the right to go to arbitration.
