HC Deb 31 March 1936 vol 310 cc1811-2
29. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware that negotiations for the establishment of a voluntary fund to provide compensation for the victims of dust in textile card-rooms have proved abortive; and whether he will now take steps to achieve the object in view by some other means?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd)

Representations have been received on this matter from the Amalgamated Association of Card Blowing and Ring Room Operatives, who have asked for a deputation to be received. My right hon. Friend has asked me to receive the deputation on his behalf, and I will arrange to do so at an early date. The position will be further considered in the light of the information furnished by the deputation.
