HC Deb 31 March 1936 vol 310 cc1796-7
11. Miss WILKINSON

asked the President of the Board of whether he is now in a position to make any statement regarding the proposed steel-works at Jarrow-on-Tyne; and whether his Department is taking any steps to facilitate the opening of the works there?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I am unable to add anything to the reply I gave to the hon. Member on 17th February.

Miss WILKINSON

Is there any chance of the steel-works being put upon the growing list of subsidies?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I do not know how far the hon. Lady would wish to go in the growing list of subsidies, but I would point out to her that we are doing what we can to encourage an enterprise in which, I know, she is deeply interested.
