§ Captain CROOKSHANKThe average numbers of persons employed at mines under the Coal Mines Act, 1911, 1809 in Great Britain during the year 1934 were 624,437 below ground and 173,262 above ground. The corresponding figures for the year 1935 were 609,531 and 171,186 respectively.
