HC Deb 30 March 1936 vol 310 c1620
40. Mr. T. SMITH

asked the Home Secretary whether he will give particulars of the new standing order issued by the Prison Department requiring a prison officer to sign statements of evidence of a charge made against him?

Mr. LLOYD

There has been for many years an order that when an officer is charged with an offence he shall be allowed to see all the information against him. The new order merely provides that when for this purpose written statements or reports are shown to an officer charged with an offence, he shall initial such documents so that there may be a record of his having seen them. I will send the hon. Member an extract from the relevant standing order showing the addition which has been made.
