HC Deb 26 March 1936 vol 310 c1395
40. Mr. D. G. SOMERVILLE

asked the Home Secretary whether the police have any statistics to show the numbers of Jewish and non-Jewish street traders, respectively, in London, and how many of these men are ex-service men?

Mr. LLOYD

The answer is in the negative.

Mr. SOMERVILLE

In view of the fact that Sunday trading may be prohibited to all except Jews, would it not be advisable to obtain statistics before any action is taken under the Bill?

Mr. LLOYD

That matter is under consideration in Standing Committee, where there is an Amendment down for consideration in a sense contrary to that suggested by the hon. Member.
