§ 96. Mr. MAGNAYasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has reached any decision on the question of appointing a committee to inquire into the position of British films?
§ Mr. RUNCIMAN:Yes, Sir, I have decided to appoint a Departmental Committee with the following terms of reference:—
To consider the position of British films, having in mind the approaching expiry of the Cinematograph Films Act, 1927, and to advise whether any, and if so what, measures are still required in the public interest to promote the production, renting and exhibition of such films.I am circulating a list of the members of the committee in the OFFICIAL REPORT.I am glad to say that Lord Moyne has consented to be the chairman of the committee.
