HC Deb 25 March 1936 vol 310 c1217
35. Captain STRICKLAND (for Vice-Admiral TAYLOR)

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will consider extending the permissible speed limit for heavy vehicles to 30 miles per hour between the hours of 8 p.m. and 8 a.m.?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the answer given to the hon. and gallant Member for Coventry (Captain Strickland) on 16th March, of which I am sending him a copy.

Captain STRICKLAND

Why does my right hon. Friend consider the passage of a passenger vehicle at 30 miles per hour as being less dangerous than a goods vehicle of equal weight?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

It is not what I consider, but what Parliament considered.
