asked the Secretary of State for War wt ether any foreign countries have carried out. manoeuvres in which attacks have been made by infantry descending from aeroplanes by parachute; and whether the War Office are considering trying out similar operations.

Apart from the trials carried out by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics during the autumn manoeuvres of 1935, I know of no similar experiments. The possible use of parachutes by troops in this country is being investigated.
