HC Deb 24 March 1936 vol 310 c1050
64. Mr. DAVID ADAMS

asked the Secretary for Mines the number of schemes of pit-head baths provided under the miners' welfare scheme; and in how many districts such provision yet remains to be made?

Captain CROOKSHANIK

The number of completed installations provided wholly or partly out of the miners' welfare fund up to the end of 1935 is 188, and they afford accommodation for 238,634 men and 366 women. With regard to the second part of the question, if the hon. Member means districts under the Mining Industry Act, 1920, the answer is that there are three districts in which there are not yet any pit-head bath schemes.
