HC Deb 24 March 1936 vol 310 c1029
52. Sir PHILIP DAWSON

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that an application has been submitted to the Import Duties Advisory Committee for a revision of the tariffs on manufactured or semi-manufactured articles from timber; and whether he will take any steps possible to facilitate the early consideration of this urgent matter?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Chamberlain)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative; but I have no doubt that the Committee will avoid any unnecessary delay in dealing with any application made to them.
