asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air what are the types of the largest flying-boats now operated, and in process of construction, by Imperial Airways, Limited; how they are engined; their normal load of passengers and mails; and their range fully loaded?

Sir P. SASSOON

The largest type now operated is the "Scipio," the largest under construction the "Empire," both being four-engined aircraft. The maximum total weights authorised are 32,500 lbs. and approximately 39,000 lbs. respectively. Loading and range vary according to the operating circumstances.
