HC Deb 16 March 1936 vol 310 cc38-9
87. Miss WARD

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has yet any information to give the House as to firms being asked to tender for a sister ship to the "Queen Mary"?

Mr. W. S. MORRISON

I understand that the company has made some inquiries but that these are of a preliminary character only. If and when the company frame definite proposals for utilising the balance of the financial facilities available under the North Atlantic Shipping Act, 1934, for increasing their tonnage, they will consult the Government upon them.
