asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether his attention has been drawn to the disability suffered by town councillors as compared with county councillors, in as much as no travelling expenses can be paid for attendance at town council or other meetings in connection with the work of the council; and whether, in any amending legislation, he will see that this anomaly is put right?

I am aware of the point referred to. As the matter involves legislation, I am not in a position to give any undertaking at present.
