HC Deb 10 March 1936 vol 309 c1959
47. Mr. HAYDN JONES

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the number of officials now engaged at the Portmadoc and Aberystwyth offices, respectively, as a result of the reorganisation of the collection of Income and Land Tax; and what financial saving the new arrangement will effect?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. W. S. Morrison)

The number of officials in the new Portmadoc and Aberystwyth taxes collection offices is five and seven respectively. An exact comparison between the cost of the new and old systems of collection is not practicable, but so far as can be judged the improved security and efficiency of the new method will be obtained at some enhancement of cost at Portmadoc, while at Aberystwyth the cost will remain as before.
