HC Deb 10 March 1936 vol 309 cc1955-6
39. Sir P. HANNON

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been called to the exhibition at certain cinemas of objectionable pictures, especially such as might exercise injurious influence over the minds of children and young persons; and whether he will institute an inquiry into the production of films which are hurtful to morals or offend public taste?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd)

My right hon. Friend is now considering, in consultation with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland, certain general representations which have been made on this subject, but he is nor, yet able to make any statement on the matter.

Sir P. HANNON

Will my hon. Friend tell the House when he will be in a position to make a statement of the latest investigations?

Mr. LLOYD

I cannot do that to-day.
