§ 25. Mr. McENTEEasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will consider favourably a reduction in the fees charged to persons to whom passports for travelling abroad are issued?
§ Viscount CRANBORNEAs stated in reply to a somewhat similar question asked on 18th December last by the hon. Member for Shipley (Mr. Creech Jones) this matter has recently been the subject of very careful consideration, but I regret that it is not possible in present circumstances to contemplate the loss of revenue which would be involved in the adoption of the hon. Member's suggestion.
§ Mr. McENTEEIn view of the fact that most passports are issued merely for one short holiday in a year, will the hon. Member consider issuing a passport for one year at a reduced cost?
§ Viscount CRANBORNEThis matter has been very carefully considered but I will bring my hon. Friend's suggestion to the notice of my right hon. Friend.
§ Miss WILKINSONWill the Noble Lord consider when issuing passports the inclusion of a circular warning persons visiting Italy against the dangers of political defeatism?
