HC Deb 04 March 1936 vol 309 cc1368-9
32. Mr. MANDER

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the present position with regard to the purchase of land by Jews in Transjordania; and the reasons why permission has not so far been granted?

Mr. J. H. THOMAS

I am unable to add anything to the reply given to the House on 26th March, 1935. The possibility of the settlement of Jews in Trans-Jordan must depend upon local conditions, as to which I must be guided by the advice of the High Commissioner, who is naturally qualified to give advice.
