HC Deb 04 March 1936 vol 309 c1384
64. Mr. BOULTON

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that coroners in several cases have made severe strictures on accused persons for not sounding their motor-horns after hours, causing fatal accidents; and whether he is still satisfied that this law is serving a useful purpose

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

I am aware of one such case. I am amply satisfied that the law is serving a useful purpose and I should imagine that coroners generally, like other citizens, assist in its observance.

66. Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the Minister of Transport the number of fatal accidents that have occurred on the new Glasgow-Edinburgh road during the last two years, respectively?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

Fourteen in 1935 as compared with 23 in 1934.

Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

To what does my right hon. Friend attribute this decrease?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

I should require notice of that question.
