HC Deb 03 March 1936 vol 309 c1191
57. Mr. HAYDN JONES

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether, in the general reorganisation of the collection of Income and Land Tax in Wales, due regard has been paid to the necessity of appointing officials with a knowledge of Welsh in Welsh-speaking areas; and how many of the chief officials of the Portmadoc office have a knowledge of Welsh?

Captain MARGESSON

The hon. Member may be assured that the need for the inclusion, in the staffs of tax collection offices in Welsh-speaking areas, of officers with a knowledge of Welsh is carefully borne in mind. Two of the assistant collectors in the Portmadoc collection office speak Welsh.
