HC Deb 03 March 1936 vol 309 c1184
44. Mr. DAVIDSON

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the number of adults unemployed in Greenock for 1933 and 1935, respectively?

The MINISTER of LABOUR (Mr. Ernest Brown)

I has e been asked to reply. The average numbers of unemployed men and women aged 18 years and over, on the registers of the Greenock Employment Exchange, were 9,995 during 1933 and 8,463 during 1935.

Mr. DAVIDSON

Are any steps being taken to place Greenock in the category of a depressed area, and to give it Government assistance.

Mr. BROWN

That point does not arise out of this question.
