HC Deb 02 March 1936 vol 309 c982
18. Mr. W. ROBERTS

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is now in a position to make grants to local authorities to enable them to carry out land drainage schemes in the Special Areas outside the area of any catchment board?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of LABOUR (Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead)

I have been asked to reply. The hon. Member will observe, from paragraph 244 of the Second Report of the Commissioner for Special Areas (England and Wales) that it is hoped to make a grant from the Special Areas Fund in respect of drainage schemes out-side the areas covered by catchment boards, but I am not yet in a position to state to what extent this will be possible.
