§ 13. Mr. SANDYSasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what, in the view of his advisers, would be France's obligations towards Russia under the Franco-Soviet pact in the event of a German invasion of Russia; and what would be Great Britain's obligations under the Treaty of Locarno in the event of France going to the rescue of Russia by invading Germany?
§ Viscount CRANBORNEAs regards the first part of the question, France's obligations are laid down in the Treaty itself, the text of which has been published in France. A copy will be placed in the Library of the House for convenience of reference. As regards the second part of the question, I would refer my hon. Friend to the statement made on this subject by the then Foreign Secretary in the course of the Debate in the House on 2nd May last.
