HC Deb 02 March 1936 vol 309 c982
13. Mr. SANDYS

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what, in the view of his advisers, would be France's obligations towards Russia under the Franco-Soviet pact in the event of a German invasion of Russia; and what would be Great Britain's obligations under the Treaty of Locarno in the event of France going to the rescue of Russia by invading Germany?

Viscount CRANBORNE

As regards the first part of the question, France's obligations are laid down in the Treaty itself, the text of which has been published in France. A copy will be placed in the Library of the House for convenience of reference. As regards the second part of the question, I would refer my hon. Friend to the statement made on this subject by the then Foreign Secretary in the course of the Debate in the House on 2nd May last.
