HC Deb 30 June 1936 vol 314 cc214-5
35. Mr. BOOTHBY

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he can now state the policy of His Majesty's Government with regard to oats?

Sir G. COLLINS

As my hon. Friend is aware, this question has been engaging my continuous and anxious attention in consultation with other Ministers concerned, and in particular with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. I regret, however, that I am not yet in a position to make a statement.

Mr. BOOTHBY

If my right hon. Friend does not intend doing anything in the matter of oats, would it not be better to say so, instead of keeping the farmers and crofters of Scotland in uncertainty month after month and year after year?

Sir G. COLLINS

I hope to make a statement on this subject at an early date.
