§ Viscount CRANBORNEThe only concession, if it can be so called, which was granted to Turkey in return for the demilitarisation of the Straits was the guarantee of protection contained in Article 18 of the Straits Convention. It is intended that this Article shall lapse if remilitarisation is agreed to.
