HC Deb 25 June 1936 vol 313 cc1927-8
8. Mr. DAY

asked the Minister of Labour, according to the last survey taken, how many Employment Exchanges require considerable rebuilding and/or reconditioning on account of being unsatisfactory; and when it is proposed to commence work on the Walworth Road (Borough) Exchange?

Lieut.-Colonel MUIRHEAD

Of the 449 Employment Exchanges, there are 147 which are at present scheduled for rehousing in due course. As regards the second part of the question, I am unable to add to the information given on 29th May.

Mr. DAY

Is the Parliamentary Secretary satisfied with the progress that is being made; and when will he be able to give us some information with regard to the Walworth Road (Borough) Exchange?

Lieut.-Colonel MUIRHEAD

These matters are being dealt with according to a programme, and we are satisfied with the progress that is being made.

Mr. DAY

Is there no difference between the hon. and gallant Gentleman's Department and the Office of Works over the Walworth Road Exchange?
