HC Deb 18 June 1936 vol 313 cc1178-9
80. Mr. G. GRIFFITHS

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he is aware that His Majesty's inspectors of mines for Yorkshire have reported that deputies are firing over 100 shots in a double shift of 16 hours; and what he intends to do in these cases?

The SECRETARY for MINES (Captain Crookshank)

No such case has been reported by His Majesty's inspectors. The second part of the question does not, therefore, arise.

Mr. GRIFFITHS

Do not the inspectors report from the shot books which are kept in the coalpit at the bottom? If they do, it is there in the pit. I know it.

Captain CROOKSHANK

That is not the question that was put. The question was whether they reported, and the answer is, No. If the hon. Member has any information which leads him to believe that his statement is well-founded, will he let me have it?
