HC Deb 18 June 1936 vol 313 cc1168-9
52. Sir GEORGE MITCHESON

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that the importation of motor cars from the United States of America is now three times as great as it was two years ago; and whether he is prepared to consider a revision of the McKenna duties?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I am aware of the increase this year in the imports of motor cars from the United States of America as compared with the imports two years ago. As regards the second part of the question, I am unable to say more than that the position in regard to these importations is being kept under review.
