HC Deb 15 June 1936 vol 313 cc624-5
21. Major D0RMAN-SMITH

asked the Minister of Agriculture what steps he has taken to invite the observations of the representatives of agricultural interests in England and Wales on the subject of the revision of the Ottawa Agreements; the names of the organisations with which he has communicated on the subject; and the final date fixed for the receipt of their replies?

Mr. ELLIOT

I am in close touch with agricultural opinion on the subject referred to, concerning which I have already received a number of representations. No formal invitations on the lines indicated by my hon. and gallant Friend have, however, been issued, nor, I am afraid, could I adopt the suggestion. If any representatives of agricultural interests send me their observations I shall, as always, be glad to give them consideration.

Mr. T. WILLIAMS

Is the right hon. Gentleman in close touch with any association of consumers?

Mr. ELLIOT

Yes, through my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade.
