HC Deb 15 June 1936 vol 313 c632
36. Mr. DAY

asked the Attorney-General whether his attention has been called to the decision of the divisional court of New York, upholding the recent law passed by the New York legislature, which bans from the courts all claims for damages founded on alleged breach of promise or alienation of affection; and will he consider introducing similar legislation in Great Britain.

The ATTORNEY - GENERAL (Sir Donald Somervell)

The answer to both parts of the question is "No."

Mr. LOGAN

If such legislation were passed, would it be possible to deal with the relations which exist between the Prime Minister and the Chancellor of the Exchequer?
