HC Deb 11 June 1936 vol 313 c367
13. Mr. McENTEE

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many persons have been summoned in the Metropolitan area for exceeding the 30 miles per hour limit during the past 12 months?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd)

I presume that the hon. Member has in mind prosecutions for exceeding the speed limit in built-up areas, under Section 1 of the Road Traffic Act, 1934. The number of such prosecutions in the Metropolitan Police District during the 12 months ended 30th April, 1936, was 45,870.
